Restorative dentistry is a branch of dental care that focuses on replacing a lost tooth. If the tooth isn’t replaced by some means, the surrounding teeth can start to twist and move toward the void. One of the best methods for restoring a missing tooth is to have Dr. Thomas E. Wold install a dental bridge.
A dental bridge is a single piece of dental work that represents three teeth. There is one dental crown on each end and one false tooth in the middle.
To form the two anchoring abutments, Dr. Thomas E. Wold will use a drill to remove the tooth enamel from the two closest teeth. Your dentist will then cast a detailed impression of the abutments and your personal bite pattern. This impression will be sent to the dental lab where your new bridge will be made.
A temporary crown will then be cemented over each abutment to protect it while the dental lab technician works to produce the permanent bridge.
A member of our team will call you in for a brief second appointment when your bridge is ready. During this appointment, the temporary crowns will be removed and your new bridge will be cemented into place.
