Digital X-rays by dentist in Bend, OR.
At Aesthetic Dentistry of Bend - Thomas E. Wold, DMD, it is our goal to provide you with the highest quality care possible to help you maintain optimal oral health. To achieve this goal, we take advantage of the latest tools and technologies available. With the latest dental technology, we can provide you with the high-quality care you deserve while also improving the outcomes of your dental treatments. Here are some of the technologies you will find in our office.

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a crucial part of providing you with optimal dental care. While there are many components of your mouth that we can see with the naked eye, there are also many parts that we cannot see. These hidden areas of your mouth are just as important as the rest of the visible components. To determine the exact cause of specific symptoms, or spot issues in their earliest stages before they can develop into something more serious, we need to be able to see all of your mouth. X-rays allow us to see many different parts of your mouth, including between your teeth and below your gums. We can spot issues such as cavities, root fractures, bone loss, cysts, abscesses, impacted teeth, bone fractures, and so much more.

Today, we take X-rays with digital technology. Digital X-rays use electronics to capture necessary images, rather than radiation. We use an electronic sensor, which is placed in your mouth, to capture images. The sensor is attached to a computer. Once your images have been captured, they are almost immediately displayed on the computer monitor. This eliminates the need to develop X-rays in a dark room, allowing us to spend your whole appointment with you. Moreover, your exposure to radiation is reduced up to 95%. Intraoral Camera

Examining the visible structures in your mouth closely is essential for spotting a wide array of issues, including small fractures, decay, and cavities. We are trained in detecting the earliest signs before symptoms even begin to show. While we can see many areas of your teeth and gums, some regions are a bit more difficult to see than others. Traditionally, a handheld metal mirror has assisted us in seeing these more difficult regions of your mouth. Today, we can more easily examine your mouth with an intraoral camera.

An intraoral camera is an electronic tool that we use to more closely examine your mouth. It is a handheld tool that is about the size of a large pen. It has a small camera on one end and is attached to a computer on the other. As we move the camera around in your mouth, we can examine your mouth on a computer monitor. In addition to capturing real-time images, we can also capture stills. This allows us to take a closer look at your mouth without you needing to keep your mouth open for extended periods of time. At the same time, we also do not need to remain bent over near your face for long periods of time either. This can help to make your dental exams more comfortable for you as well as for us.
