![]() Infected teeth can allow the infection to enter your blood stream and affect other parts of your body. The inflammation caused by gum disease can also affect other parts of your body. This is why we recommend that you visit us annually at the very least. We know it is hard these days to find the time to see us, your doctor, and if you have children to be sure their appointments are also kept. Many times, you have to take off work to get all of this accomplished and that is not always easy. Though we insist that you visit annually at the very least, we agree with the American Dental Association (ADA) that visiting us twice a year is the best schedule to keep. But why is twice a year so important? Your Oral Cavity EnvironmentThe oral cavity is a very dynamic environment. The food you eat, the beverages you drink and smoking all change on a daily basis. The times you brush or floss your teeth can change. Sometimes you may be able to brush after you eat and other times that may not be possible. All of these factors contribute to the dynamic environment.Depending on which factors change will be instrumental in determining how the change affects your teeth and gums. Changes in your mouth, tooth decay, and gum disease can be rapid and the sooner you can detect these changes and treat them, the better your oral health is and the cheaper it is for you to get the problems corrected. We know it can be hard and we also know that it will cost you more money to see us twice a year, but if you compare that cost to the cost of fixing a decaying tooth or receding gums, we think you'll agree that it will be worth giving us a call. |
