Do you know how to treat your toothbrush? If not, that’s ok!  If you think about it, if your toothbrush is filled with nasty bacteria, then your teeth will be too. Dr. Thomas E. Wold and our team here at Dr Thomas E. WOLD Dentistry in Bend, Oregon, cares for your oral health and smile, which is why we are happy to give you information about your toothbrush and how to care for it properly.

To begin, the American Dental Association recommends changing your toothbrush every four to six months or if the bristles become too frayed. Switching out your toothbrush is important because it will help keep your teeth in the healthiest shape possible. It is also significant to note, if you suffer an illness it is also a great idea to switch out your toothbrush after you are healed, so you do not carry the germs and bacteria from the illness back into your smile.

When it comes to storing your special toothbrush each day, remember to keep it in a clean, dry place. If you let it dry properly, you can keep bacteria from settling into the brush. If your toothbrush is placed in an area that is exposed to other bad bacteria, that can seep into your toothbrush and spread in your mouth. So, remember to keep your toothbrush in a safe, clean place, so your teeth can be kept in excellent condition.
